What is poetry's place in the turbulent present? To mark World Poetry Day 2021 and in celebration of the digital launch of Hunchprose, the latest opus of poems by Poet and Cultural Theorist Ranjit Hoskote, join us for a live session around the book and on the future of poetry. The author will be in conversation with Poet, Novelist and Dancer Tishani Doshi. They will discuss the range and power of the poetic word, poetry's gift for creating afterlives that survive chaos, and its response to the challenges of the New Normal.

Ranjit Hoskote

Poet, Cultural Theorist

Ranjit Hoskote is a poet, cultural theorist and curator. His seven collections of poetry include Vanishing Acts, Central Time and Jonahwhale. He is also the author of I, Lalla: The Poems of Lal Ded and the editor of Dom Moraes: Selected Poems. Hoskote curated India’s first-ever national pavilion at the Venice Biennale. He has received the Sahitya Akademi Golden Jubilee Award, the Sahitya Akademi Translation Award and the S.H. Raza Literature Award. His poems have been translated into German, Hindi, Swedish, Spanish and Arabic

Tishani Doshi

Poet , Novelist and Dancer

Tishani Doshi is a Welsh-Gujarati poet, novelist and dancer. Her most recent books are Girls Are Coming Out of the Woods, shortlisted for the Ted Hughes Poetry Award, and a novel, Small Days and Nights, shortlisted for the RSL Ondaatje Prize and a New York Times Bestsellers Editor’s Choice. A God at the Door, her fourth collection of poems, is forthcoming in 2021. She lives in Tamil Nadu, India.
