Led by the vocalist and harmonium virtuoso Sarvjeet Tamta, the ensemble pays homage to the late Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan while invoking the writings of love, devotion, and mysticism of Amir Khusro, Baba Bulleh Shah, Meera Bai, and Kabir through kalaams and bhajans. From their original compositions to the beloved Man Kunto Maula, their melodies sound like immemorial traditions uniting mysticism and solace.

Join us once more for an evening where divine poetry meets human emotion.

Few musical traditions possess the power to dissolve the boundaries between the spiritual and the sensory as profoundly as Qawwali, Ghazal, and Sufi music. Rooted in centuries-old devotional practices, these forms blend poetry, rhythm, and melody into something far greater than performance, they become prayer in motion. Qawwali, with its pulsating handclaps, soaring vocals, and hypnotic repetitions, seeks not only to entertain but to awaken. Each crescendo pulls the listener closer to a state of ecstasy, where the self disappears and only divine love remains. Ghazals, on the other hand, are gentler, more introspective companions on this spiritual journey. They explore love in all its shades, earthly and eternal, through the delicate interplay of words and melody.

Together, they form a musical dialogue between devotion and desire, between the human and the divine.
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the legendary Pakistani Qawwali singer, was born into a family with a rich musical heritage that spanned centuries. His father, Ustad Fateh Ali Khan, and two of his uncles, Ustad Mubarik Ali Khan and Ustad Salamat Ali Khan, were all renowned Qawwali artists, and Nusrat learned the art form from his father from a young age. Nusrat's rise to global fame began in the 1970s, but it was in the 1980s that he truly emerged as a phenomenon in the world music genre. His powerful and emotive Qawwali performances captivated audiences worldwide, and he was able to connect with people from all walks of life through the universal language of music. Nusrat was known for his commitment to making Qawwali accessible to all, and he was keen to spread the message of Sufism and the importance of love and understanding through his music. He collaborated with artists such as Peter Gabriel, Eddie Vedder, and Michael Brook, further expanding the reach of Qawwali and introducing it to new audiences. To this day, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is celebrated and remembered as a true master of Qawwali. This legacy continues to inspire and influence musicians and listeners around the world.

What makes Rehmat-e-Nusrat extraordinary is not merely their technical mastery but the authenticity that shines through each note; their music is less a recreation of the past than a living conversation with it. The verses of Amir Khusro, Bulleh Shah, Meera Bai, and Kabir of longing, defiance, surrender, and simplicity, find renewed resonance in their voices. When Rehmat-e-Nusrat takes the stage at the Royal Opera House, Mumbai, it is not just a concert it is a communion. An evening where devotion meets rhythm, where tradition finds youth, and where music once again becomes what it was always meant to be: a bridge between souls and the sacred.
