Dubai Smart City Project

The Dubai smart city is a government driven initiative focusing on technology, sustainability, and innovation. The Dubai 2021 plan has launched almost 100 projects to transform the metropolis into a smart city. The key projects include smart infrastructure and transportation, digitised government services, clean energy, and sustainable urban development.

The young generation are being trained to contribute and live in the smart city as they learn about various applications and uses of technology. Some of them include:

Block Coding - Foundation for STEM Learning

We live in a world where AI has become our new companion and ‘coding’ a new form of literacy.

Block coding is a simplified version of coding which involves dragging blocks of pre-written codes/instructions to develop a functioning program. This method is mainly designed for children to introduce them to the world of coding. Introducing coding to children helps to develop problem solving skills, logical reasoning, and team building skills among them. When things don’t work out anyone learning coding starts thinking about alternate solutions and various probabilities, this helps them to be determined and persistent on the task at hand and is useful for them further in life. Learning coding also adds up in cognitive skills, improves memory and works in a similar way when a child learns a new language.Coding aids in introducing STEM learning. It opens numerous opportunities for future professions, as it acts as a base for several domains in IT, cybersecurity, data science, robotics, and more.

Robotics - The Complementary Associate of Coding

Robotics is an interdisciplinary field that can be beneficial for kids from pre-k to college levels. It helps to make the young generation technologically fluent. While engaging with robotics they become creative; it helps them think out of the box and make innovative creations as they continue to experiment. They learn about real world problem solving while working in groups.Robotics is another discipline used in the process of STEM learning. It helps to learn various concepts of physics and mechanics like speed, force, motion, and energy, along with various aspects of mathematics, coding, logical thinking, programming and designing. Coding and robotics complement each other as the functioning of robots need to be coded in advance.

Changing Perspectives with Drones

The discipline of education is continuously evolving with change in society. The use and application of technology has made teaching and learning easy, effective, engaging, and impactful. Drones are one of these tools used in the field of education. They encourage active learning at an individual and group level. Drones can help increase the interaction of children and young adults' to open surroundings with access to both land and underwater. A wide range of activities with a mix of games, problem solving activities, and creative projects can help technology to reverse screen addiction. Drones can be a diverse teaching aid with applications inside and outside the classroom. Its use can go beyond the STEM subjects learning. One can explore photography, videography, topography, landscape, history, sociology, research, agriculture, marine research, data science, documentation and environmental science in depth with drones. The legal processes and permissions must be followed while using drones.
