What happens when cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) meets musical genius? You get the resurrection of a long-dormant Beatles track, once thought forever incomplete. Last year, the world bore witness to the unveiling of Now and Then, the release of their first new song since 1995. Through the marvels of AI, John Lennon's isolated vocals were expertly extracted, cleaned up, and integrated with contributions from his bandmates.

From AI cover songs going viral to tech giants unveiling text-to-music generators and artists incorporating AI voice clones, the immersive discussion will unpack how AI is emerging as a creative collaborator for music professionals. The panelists will examine transforming business models, and revenue streams as they navigate the complex legal and ethical considerations surrounding intellectual property rights.

Join us to discover how the music industry is being reshaped by a crescendo of innovation.

Applications of AI in the Musical world

The application of AI in the music field has seen significant advancements in recent years. AI has access to a vast repository of music compositions and remix tools, allowing it to create new rhythms and tunes that push the boundaries of traditional music. One important use of AI in music is in the area of audio mastering. In recording studios, AI-powered tools can analyse the sound equilibrium and spectrum range, identifying flaws and optimising the overall quality of the audio. This quality control process using AI ensures that the final product is polished and ready for consumption on any device. Another prominent use of AI in music is in the realm of streaming services. AI algorithms can assess the listening patterns and preferences of users, enabling a highly personalised music experience tailored to individual tastes. Record labels and corporations are also leveraging AI to determine which songs are likely to be popular among customers, allowing them to produce a new type of sound that is unique to the music world. Furthermore, AI is transforming the live music experience, with virtual concerts featuring artists from across the globe. AI assists the music business in spotting new artists and talented musicians, helping to discover and nurture the next generation of musical talent.

Popular AI Music Tools

Technology is transforming lives and directly impacts creative industries like art, music and entertainment. The music industry has been very receptive to applications using AI with easily available tools. Songwriting tools like Amper Music's Songwriter and AIVA can help generate new melodies, chord progressions, and lyrics, while BandLab's Band-in-a-Box and Presonus' Notion assist in creating and refining song structures. The emergence of Authentic Artists, a virtual library of AI-powered artists, and tools like PhonicMind for voice removal and LANDR for audio mastering, are further examples of how AI is reshaping the music industry. Additionally, Spotify has changed the user experience of listening to music with its AI-driven recommendations and personalisation. Other AI tools, such as Orb Producer Suits, Muse Net, WavTool, and Brain.fm, are also making significant strides in the industry, showcasing the transformative potential of this technology. While the impact of AI on music is still unfolding, it is clear that this paradigm shift has the power to redefine the creative process and the way both artists and listeners experience music.

AI, Music and Ethics

The use of AI-driven platforms in the music industry has become increasingly widespread and advanced, leaving musicians with less choice but to incorporate these tools into their work. This raises questions about the career prospects and value of human creativity, as well as the ethical implications of employing algorithms for music creation. To address these concerns, an ethical framework must be established that ensures music and AI can be adapted together in a balanced approach. This framework should cover the different and constantly evolving technological, legal, economic, and societal aspects of the industry. The key ethical considerations that must be addressed include transparency, human-centred values, fairness, and privacy. These themes must continue to evolve alongside the fast-paced AI industry to ensure a future where technology and ethics coexist harmoniously.
