Director, Producer and Screenwriter

Kiran Rao, actor, producer, screenwriter and director, has worked as second Assistant Director with Academy Award nominated director Mira Nair on the Indian production- Monsoon Wedding. She started her career as an assistant director in the epic film Lagaan directed by Ashutosh Gowariker which was nominated for the 74th Academy Awards in the foreign language film category. She scripted and directed the film Dhobi Ghat, which was released in January 2011 under Aamir Khan Productions. She has started writing her next film which will have roots in Calcutta.

Nasreen Munni Kabir, an India-born television producer based in UK, is a renowned documentary filmmaker & author. Her work includes the 46-part series Movie Mahal, In Search of Guru Dutt, Follow that Star (a profile of Amitabh Bachchan) and Channel 4 series such as How To Make It Big In Bollywood. She won the 1999 Women of Achievement Award in Arts & Culture and became a governor of the British Film Institute in 2000. Nasreen also produced a documentary on Shahrukh Khan "The Inner and Outer World of ShahRukh Khan". She has also published a coffee table book called “In Search of Lata Mangeshkar” and a book titled "A. R. Rahman: The Spirit of Music" which was written based on her conversations with the two legends.

Sidharth Bhatia, author of “Cinema Modern The Navketan Story”, has been a journalist for over 35 years, working both in India and abroad. He is a regular commentator in newspapers and on television, current affairs, society and culture. Till December 2009 he was on the editorial board that launched DNA and ran the editorial page of the paper. He was awarded the press fellowship to Wolfson College, Cambridge and made an associate fellow of the college in 2001. He was a foreign correspondent in South Africa during the transition to democracy in 1993.

Naresh Fernandes is a journalist who lives in Bombay. He is the editor of Scroll.in, a digital daily, and a consulting editor at National Geographic Traveller India. He was previously editor-in-chief of Time Out India, which has editions in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. He has also worked at The Times of India and the Associated Press in Mumbai, and The Wall Street Journal in New York. His journalism has appeared in The Hindustan Times, The New York Times, India Magazine, Man’s World, Outlook Traveller, Seminar, Columbia Journalism Review, Art and Thought, Wespennest, Letras Libres, Transition, Culturefront and Citylimits, among other publications. He is the author of City Adrift: A Short Biography of Bombay (Aleph, 2013) and co-author of Bombay Then and Mumbai Now (Roli, 2009), a photo-led record of the city’s historical and contemporary concerns. In 2003, he was the co-editor, along with Jerry Pinto, of Bombay Meri Jaan (Penguin), an anthology of writing about Bombay.
