The way the city moves is constantly evolving with technological breakthroughs and a greater need to meet sustainable development goals. As fuel prices hit an all-time high and with the transport sector accounting for 18% of the total energy consumption in the country, people are now likelier than ever to transition to smarter and cleaner mobility alternatives to reduce the burgeoning carbon footprint.

Avid Learning presents Sustainability NOW: The Road to Eco Transportation, a panel discussion that will probe the future of urban e-mobility and explore eco-friendly and low-carbon innovations as well as transit-oriented developments for a more sustainable future and current reality.

This panel is part of the ongoing Sustainability NOW series that examines the pressing environmental issues of today and aims to convert audiences into changemakers for a greener tomorrow.

The speakers will examine inventive ways to reduce urban traffic and pollution, the need to shift towards a zero-emission vehicular ecosystem, and the potential for leveraging drone technology in transport, food delivery, healthcare, defence, and much more

Sh. Ashish Kundra belongs to the 1996 batch of the Indian Administrative Service. He currently leads the office of Pr. Secretary cum Commissioner (Transport), GNCT of Delhi. With a keen interest in Technology, he did his graduation in BTech (Electronics) from the prestigious IIT (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi. He has vast administrative experience spanning across 25 years of serving the nation. Mr. Kundra has held several important posts like – Chief Electoral Officer of Mizoram, Private Secretary to the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, and as an Administrator of Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. In his current capacity, Mr. Kundra is leading the charge to electrify Delhi’s mobility, getting RTO services to citizens doorsteps by way of Faceless Services, implementing Road Safety measures and ensuring women safety in Public Transport by implementing projects like installing CCTV cameras and panic buttons in every bus of the State.

Pawan Mulukutla is the Program Director - Clean Mobility and Energy Tech under Sustainable Cities at WRI India. Here, he is responsible for overall strategy, creating and maintaining delivery of research projects, stakeholder engagement and partnerships, work plan development and fundraising. Pawan has over 18 years of experience in the urban mobility ecosystem. Prior to joining WRI India he worked at Bosch for close to two years setting up the “e-micromobility connected solution” program including development of business model, deployment of the solution with cloud-based backend for performance measurement and analytics. In the past, Pawan worked with WRI India in Mumbai and Bengaluru offices for seven years. During this time, he managed the Bus Karo Program, co-created innovative platforms like Station Access & Mobility Program (STAMP) and Better Bus initiatives. Prior to moving back to India in 2012, he worked in the US for a decade with more than 20 cities on multiple topics ranging from Multi-modal Integration, Transit Planning, Long Range Transportation Planning, among others. He holds a degree in Advanced Management Program from Indian Institute of Management, Bengaluru, a master’s in Transportation Engineering and Planning from Clemson University, South Carolina, USA and a bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Bhopal, India.

Smit Shah, currently based in New Delhi, India, holds a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from the Mumbai University and started his career as a software developer with Germin8, a social intelligence company to build SaaS-based data analytics products. Passionate about leveraging the power of healthcare data, he co-founded CheckApp - a health-tech startup, which created an interoperable healthcare data exchange protocol for on-demand access to clinical data across different healthcare service providers. His work also involved interacting with state governments to integrate healthcare data exchange with public health policies. With his well-rounded business acumen and passion for public policy and technology integration to solve large scale problems, he currently has a laser focus on the Indian drone industry and serves as the President at the Drone Federation of India. He works ardently with leading drone manufacturers, service providers, public and private sector corporations for creating opportunities and accelerating the growth of the drone industry in India. Smit also plays a prominent role in advocacy by interacting with civil and defence government agencies and serves as a member of leading government drone policy and several standardisation committees.

Rajiv Ramchandra is the award-winning founder of Recreate India Research Foundation (Re:CREATe), India's first research and advocacy enterprise to advance remanufacturing in the nation. In December 2020, Re:CREATe received the prestigious Remanufacturer of the Year Award from Rematec in Amsterdam. Rajiv is also the founder In Wise Company (IWC), a sustainability and circular economy leadership and management advisory enterprise. He has previously served as Assistant Vice President of a consulting firm in India specializing in corporate sustainability and policy research. He also served as the Business Manager, and in engineering roles for nearly seven years at the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute (NYSP2I), at the Golisano Institute for Sustainability (GIS). Rajiv has worked with organizations in diverse industries including food manufacturing, pulp and paper manufacturing, chemical manufacturing, metal finishing, healthcare, think tanks, and government bodies. His interests include the evolution of business models, the power of systemic changes aligning industry towards greater sustainability and circularity, as well as the meeting point of science and spirituality. Rajiv holds an ME in Mechanical Engineering (2006) from the University of Sussex, an ME in Engineering Management (2009) from the Kate Gleason College of Engineering and an MBA (2014) from the Saunders College of Business, both at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He successfully completed the Business Sustainability Management program of study (2017) from the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), and holds the Sustainability Excellence Associate (SEA) credential (2020) developed by the International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP) and administered by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI).
