Literature Live! and Avid Learning present a fascinating live masterclass with Screenwriter and Director Satyanshu Singh as a part of the virtual week – From Silver Screen to Your Screenthat promises to be a multiplex of film appreciation covering diverse aspects from archiving to critiquing, from documentaries for social change to screen writing for digital platforms. In this session, Satyanshu will elaborate on the various creative processes involved in writing episodic content and how it differs from writing for feature films, while drawing a comparison between the two. He will also share the industry-accepted procedure of pitching your ideas and content to producers and developing them further for OTT platforms. Satyanshu will also draw upon his experience having worked with numerous mainstream Indian films including Udaan (2010) and Ferrari Ki Sawaari (2011) as well as the 2014 National Award-Winning short film Tamaash. His debut feature film Chintu Ka Birthday premiered at the Jagran Film Festival in 2019 and is currently streaming online.

Satyanshu Singh

Satyanshu Singh

Screenwriter and Director

Satyanshu Singh is a National Award-winning filmmaker, screenwriter and professor of cinema. An MBBS from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, Satyanshu gave up his job of a doctor in the army and started his professional journey by writing poems for Vikramaditya Motwane's 'Udaan', and lyrics for 'Sulemani Keeda' and 'Ferrari Ki Sawaari'. His directorial debut was Kashmiri short film 'Tamaash'. Satyanshu's first feature film, 'Chintu Ka Birthday', playing on Zee5, has been received very well. Satyanshu has been teaching cinema since 2011. He designed and conducted screenwriting courses at Anupam Kher's 'Actor Prepares'. He created AIB First Draft, an intensive six-month writers' residency program. He mentored the writing of 'Gormint', an upcoming show for Amazon Prime. Satyanshu has co-authored a screenwriting textbook that is ready to be published. In 2020, Satyanshu conducted online lectures for coronavirus relief which raised more than Rs 28 Lakhs for more than 40 funds.
