Serendipity
Arts Trust in association with The Royal Opera House, Mumbai and Avid
Learning presents Living Traditions, a Concert of Hindustani Classical Music
curated by consummate singer and composer Shubha Mudgal to mark the
Serendipity Arts Festival’s debut in Mumbai! Serendipity Arts Festival is a
multidisciplinary arts festival and a cultural experience that brings
together visual, performing and culinary arts.
Living Traditions will showcase
Hindustani classical music traditions that are constantly adapting and
dynamic. Three accomplished exponents of Hindustani music – vocalist Anuradha
Kuber, sitar player Purbayan Chatterjee and sarangi Nawaz Murad Ali along
with their respective accompanying musicians re-interpret compositions that
were recorded by master musicians in the early 20th century on 78 RPM format
when recording technology came to India. In doing so, the project hopes to
create a beautiful montage of the past and present, highlighting the
continuum that binds tradition with modernity
