The Consulate General of The Kingdom of the Netherlands, Avid Learning and Ministry of New and present The Future of Design Education, a workshop with Dutch graphic designer and professor Erwin Slegers. Prof. Slegers will discuss the trajectory and future of graphic design and the prospects of Arts and Design Education in Holland and India with participants. This workshop will be part of the Dutch Design Salons presented under the umbrella of Holland meets Mumbai, which aims to introduce the various design-based solutions for which the Netherlands is well-known for and localize it for Mumbai.
 
Workshop highlights include:
-Dutch Design history, growth and meaning
- Art Education and how it is developed in the Netherlands
- How Art and Design Education are connected
- Creating a future plan for education and a new design language
- Development of new art educational strategies

Erwin Slegers

Dutch Graphic designer and professor

Erwin Slegers is a future education pioneer, course leader of Graphic Design, Image and Media Technology, leader of International Relations at the School of Media of HKU - university of the Arts Utrecht, and independent Film maker and designer. After graduating from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and 17 years of having a graphic design studio Slegers started his second career in education, one day a week. Now he has a full time job as a pioneer in future design education. Slegers recently received his Master of Arts degree with a documentary on the future of graphic design education, called ’the New Design Landscape’. In recent years, he organized various exhibitions, publications and symposia in collaboration with students and various clients, such as Bevrijdingspop Haarlem, UNESCO, Make a Forest, Graphic Happiness (Museum Hilversum), The One Minutes (Sandberg Instituut Amsterdam) and an annual exhibition at the Academy Gallery AG. In 2013/2014, Slegers organized the exhibition 'Graphic Happiness' with workshops in 5 cities in China. An exhibition with more than 40 Dutch designers, realized in collaboration with Museum Hilversum. Presenting Dutch Design and Dutch Art Education as a source of inspiration for China. For The One Minutes, he realized several City One Minutes portraits, representing 24 hours in 24 minutes of New Delhi and Singapore. Both portraits were exhibited during the World Expo Shanghai 2010 and Noorderlicht 2011 in Groningen.
