Talking Turtle Storytellers was founded by Deepa Panchal and I, Shreedevi Sunil, a Professional storyteller and puppeteer, in the year 2010. I believe telling and listening to each other’s stories not only enables us to learn about each other, but also to understand each other better. We view storytelling as a traditional art form that can promote literacy, imagination, and values in the young. We perform our stories using songs, sign language, humour and audience participation. I have been performing stories in schools , with NGO's and have curated ticketed shows at studios across Mumbai. Since March 2018, I am performing a collection of Musical Puppet Plays , these are theatrical representations specially curated for young audiences. This year Talking Turtles Storytellers went live with Tale Train : A Story Festival for Children. Here we want to encourage parents , teachers and children to revisit stories told in its most authentic form. We are happy to say we have a managed a successful start. I have also had the pleasure of participating in some very prestigious platforms and interacting with fellow storytellers and puppeteers. We conduct training workshops for storytellers, puppeteers and teachers. Stories are one of the most effective teaching tools , an educator can have. A current concept that we are incorporating in our workshop is STEM stories, wherein we encourage parents and teachers to use stories to teach these concepts.Stories have been teaching us about science, technology , history, arts etc. why not continue using them ?Read more
